As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, East Texas Tortoise, Lizard & Snake operates on your generosity. Donations of $25 or more receive a tax-deductible reciept.
Where does my donation go?
Our two main focuses are reptile rescue and educational outreach. Every penny we spend helps to give reptiles a chance. We also spend thousands of dollars each year on our Sulcata Tortoise program. We locate tortoises in colder climate states needing warmer homes and have them shipped safely to East Texas to be rehomed. We use services such as airlines and Uship to get these animals here.
But where does my donation REALLY go? I mean, REALLY?
We are a permanent home to more than 50 reptiles, and a temporary home for dozens more which come and go as we find better homes for them. All animals are vet checked as we recieve them. We go through alot of live and frozen feed.
What’s the big deal about donations being tax-deductible?
Because we are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, your donation qualifies as a charitable contribution for federal income tax purposes.
Can we put East Texas Tortoise Rescue in our will?
Absolutely. Large breed tortoises, such as the African Spurred Tortoise, out live us in most cases. They can live up to 150 years. Every responsible owner should have a plan for your loved one after you pass on. You may leave your tortoise to us, we will make sure it is cared for just as you have. By including our charity in your estate planning, you can leave a legacy of education and conservation, and give reptiles a chance for generations to come.
